Why your hot tub filter is important
Enjoy a warm, bubbly hot tub with crystal clear water that’s ready to be enjoyed
whenever you want. Ensure your spa water remains clean and free of debris with a
new spa filter.
Old filters can damage spas by causing pumps to work overtime and will cause spa
water quality to decline profusely. When it comes to performance, the filtration
system is at the heart of your spa’s function. Optimize your spa’s performance and
water quality with a Cal Spas replacement filter.
Bio-Clean™ Antimicrobial Filters
Ban harmful microbes from your filter. Cal Spas Bio-Clean™ spa filters are infused
with antimicrobial technology during the manufacturing process that becomes part
of the molecular structure. With proper maintenance, Bio-Clean™ filters will have
an added level of defense that keeps your filter clean and extend the functional
lifespan.
HOW TO MEASURE YOUR SPA FILTER CARTRIDGES:
To ensure you order the correct replacement filter, Cal Spas has developed an easy
measuring guide for all filters. Follow the directions below to replace your existing
filter with a diligent spa filter which will last months longer than competitors.
Width
Using a tape measure, start at the edge of the end cap and measure across the widest point
to the end of the opposite edge to find the deameter of your spa filter.
Length
Measure from outside of the end cap to the opposite end cap to find the total length of the filter.
Opening Diameter
Measure the opening of the filter by laying the fiter on its side. Measure the actual hold diameter, exclude the taper if any.
Please Note: Measurements of used filter may vary due to expansion or shrinkage while in the water. Please round to the nearest inch
for accurate filter size.
Thread Types
Male threads must be distinguished between fine threads and coarse threads.
Female(Internal) Thread
Measure at the widest diameter, not including threads. A 1-1/2" nominal female coarse threaded fitting actually measures approx.
1-7/8" inside diameter (I.D.).
Male Thread
After identifying your thread type, determine the size of the thread by measuring the outside diameters at the widest point.
Fine Thread Measurements:
Normal Tread Size |
Measured O.D. |
1-1/2" |
1-7/8" |
2" |
2-1/4" |
Coarse Thread Measurements:
Normal Tread Size |
Measured O.D. |
1-1/4" |
1-11/16" |
1-1/2" |
1-13/16" |
2" |
2-5/16" |
Male Slip Fittings
Smooth, non-threaded male slip fittings can be found on cetain filters. To find the size, measure the overall outside diameter
(O.D.) at the fitting's widest points.
Reading a Tape Measure
Tape measures are lined up with inch marks and fractioal lines. The scale between inch marks is divided into 1/16" increments.
Theer are four different sized of lines between the inch marks. The longest line represents 1/2", the secondl longest 1/4", then 1/8" and finally 1/16".
Filter Maintenance Is Key
Keep your spa filters clean, rinse them off at least once a month to keep your spa filters functioning properly.
Pro tip: Rotate between two filters! When rinse off a dirty filter, replace with a clean spare to prevent your spa
from circulating without a filter which can cause irreparable damage. This rotation method also helps extend the life span of your filters to
dry completely will prevent odors and microorganisms from reproducing.
Best Filter Material
3.2 oz point bonded filtration fabric is constructed with millions of fiber strands to facilitate waater flow, hold
more dirt and for an extended lifespan. The fine fiber allow this fabric to have larger cumulative wet surface area comapared to competitive brands.
The special fabric allows the release of more dirt allowing spa owners to clean the filters easy and simple, resulting in better flow, less maintenance
and longer cycle times between cleaning.
Core Construction
Our filter cores allow for the even flow of water through the entire cartridge which increases filtration and makes it easier
for the pump to move water through the entire cartridge. Our filter cores are designed to be efficient, robustand save energy, money and the environment.
Indestructible Banding
Larger filters that require a banding will come standard with an Indestructible barnding material to prevent pleats from fluttering
during water circulation. Our bands will ensure your spa will function properly to maintain your spa water sparkling clean.
